How to Search Criminal Dockets
Every Gordon County criminal docket search begins with one detail: the court named on your citation, warrant, notice, or order. Felony indictments and trials belong to Superior Court. Magistrate Court handles warrants, first appearances, bond, and probable-cause questions, but it never decides guilt on a Superior Court felony. Misdemeanor traffic falls to Probate Court. Traffic and ordinance cases stay with the municipal court that issued them.
For Superior Court matters, the Georgia Courts E-Access directory points you to PeachCourt, which requires an account and may charge for document images. The county's Court/Trial Information page posts arraignment, non-jury, jury, indictment, and grand-jury calendars as free PDFs. Keep in mind those calendars are preliminary.
- Copy the court name and case number exactly.
- Use PeachCourt for a Superior case.
- Check the matching posted criminal calendar.
- Compare the date, judge, room, charge, and setting.
- Call or visit the responsible clerk when a result is missing.
Gordon Felony Docket Route
The Gordon County Superior Court is the general trial court for felonies. Grant Walraven is the Clerk of Superior Court. He keeps the filed criminal records at 101 South Piedmont Street in Calhoun. Call 706-629-9533 or fax 706-629-2139. Published hours run Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
PeachCourt serves as the mandatory Superior e-filing provider, though its records sit behind an account. A calendar PDF is only a schedule. It is not the full chronological docket. Need a certified disposition, an older file, or a document you cannot pull up? Contact the clerk by counter, phone, mail, fax, or email.
Key point: A Magistrate first appearance may precede a Superior felony docket, but it is not the felony trial.
What a Criminal Docket Shows
Gordon criminal calendars tell you more than when a hearing happens. The arraignment sample lists sequence, case number, style, filing date, count, charge, judge, courtroom, and setting. A non-jury sample layers in more. It adds probation revocation, early termination, bond motions, bench warrants, and failure to appear. Every one of those items still needs context.
| Case number | The assigned identifier, often shown in a year plus CR form. |
|---|---|
| Count and charge | The accusation for one count, not proof of guilt. |
| Setting | The event purpose, such as arraignment, motion, call, or trial. |
| Judge and room | The assignment for that posted setting. |
| Disposition | The result, best checked against a signed judgment or order. |
Local samples include examples numbered 23CR34457 and 24CR35799. Treat the format as a clue rather than a fixed validation rule.
Gordon Calendar Codes Explained
Local labels help a docket line fit a printed calendar. Read as final results, though, they can mislead. GJ means grand jury, and FTA means failure to appear; SHS, RMG, SJP, and DSS identify the four Superior judges, while rooms appear as A through D.
- Calendar call
- A status and scheduling event, not automatically trial.
- No bill
- A grand-jury result that should be read with the official entry.
- Probation revocation
- A post-disposition hearing, not a new charge by itself.
- Motion
- A request to the judge, not a ruling.
An indictment is only a charging event, never a conviction. Check later Gordon County docket entries before drawing any conclusion.
Stages on a Criminal Docket
The common path reads: Filing or indictment → Arraignment → Pretrial motions → Plea or trial → Disposition → Sentencing. Some cases begin with a Magistrate warrant or probable-cause event. Others return for revocation, early termination, or appeal after judgment.
At arraignment, compare the case number, filing date, count, charge, judge, time, and room. During pretrial work, keep motions separate from orders. At disposition, look for the judgment, sentence, dismissal, plea entry, acquittal, or other signed record. A calendar row may not carry the full result. A saved PDF can go stale.
Gordon Criminal Calendar Detail
The arraignment sample shows how local docket information is arranged. The non-jury sample adds first appearances, bond changes, psychiatric-evaluation motions, bench-warrant matters, plea withdrawals, and DFCS subpoenas. These are event types, and none of them alone states the final outcome.
The 2026 calendar breaks out criminal jury blocks, calls, grand-jury work, Drug Court, and Mental Health Court. Specialty labels do not create a separate public case database. Search the underlying Superior case. Then check whether the block says Gordon or Bartow. The Cherokee Judicial Circuit serves both counties.
Gordon Docket Document Check
A docket line and the document behind it are two different things. PeachCourt may show case docket information while charging for an electronic image. Sealed records, adoption records, and unexecuted proposed orders are excluded, the provider says, and its statement that records may reach back to 2005 is no promise that every Gordon County criminal file is online. If the indictment, order, judgment, or sentence you need is missing, give the Superior Clerk the case number, the document name, and the approximate filing date.
Ask whether a plain copy will do, or whether your purpose requires a certified one. Gordon County publishes unassisted copies at $0.50 per page, assisted copies at $1 per page, and a $2.50 certification stamp; it does not publish the full price and turnaround for every certified criminal product, so confirm the amount and delivery method before sending funds. Older records may need a counter or archive search.
The difference matters most at disposition. A charge row describes an allegation. A plea label may only describe an event. The signed judgment and sentence supply the court's official result, so when entries conflict or look incomplete, request the filed order instead of trusting a calendar summary.
Which Court Holds Criminal Dockets
Custody follows jurisdiction. Ask the wrong Gordon County clerk and you may get an empty result even though a case exists.
| Court | Work | Route |
|---|---|---|
| Superior | Felonies, trials, revocations, sentences | PeachCourt and Superior Clerk |
| Magistrate | Warrants, bond, first appearance | 100 South Wall, 706-629-6818 |
| Probate | Misdemeanor traffic | Suite 3, 706-629-7314 |
| Juvenile | Delinquency and juvenile traffic | Restricted records |
| Municipal | City traffic and ordinances | Issuing city clerk |
Calhoun, Fairmount, and Resaca each publish separate municipal routes. Plainville and Ranger offer no official municipal docket portal.
Gordon Records Not Found
A Gordon County docket search can come up empty for several reasons. You may be looking at the wrong court. An older file may sit in storage, unscanned. Access could be blocked by an account gate or by a restricted record. A posted calendar lists only selected settings, so it never replaces the case register itself. A city payment portal is even narrower. It may show nothing beyond a citation number and its payment status.
Start by confirming the court and the case number. Then ask the responsible clerk directly about the file. It may be archived, sealed, juvenile, transferred, or held somewhere else. Superior material can be requested at the counter, by mail, fax, email, or phone. Probate and the municipal clerk handle their own matters. An empty result is not proof that no case exists.
If your paperwork uses words like appeal, transferred, remanded, or certified, check both the originating court and the receiving Gordon County Superior Court docket. A later proceeding sometimes carries a related case number. Hang on to the exact caption and filing date. Clerks use those details to tell similar court records apart. Before ordering any document, make sure your search results match the court, the number, and the case style.
Public Access and Sealed Criminal Dockets
Uniform Superior Court Rule 21 opens Gordon County criminal dockets to inspection. Statutes and court process can still limit what a person sees. Rule 21.6 and O.C.G.A. ยง9-11-7.1 shield identifying details. Juvenile, adoption, DFCS, sealed, and in-camera material may be withheld or redacted. The GBI restriction guidance describes a different process entirely. PeachCourt was never built to serve as a criminal-history database.
Access limit: Public access does not guarantee every document or field. Ask for the available unsealed docket and redacted copies.

That difference is exactly why a restriction question stands apart from reading the court's own docket and disposition documents.
